Ngorongoro crater is a large volcanic caldera, a UNESCO listed and protected area and is the largest unflooded caldera in the world. It contains a large number of diverse animals that cannot escape up the steep sides and so remain inside. In the dry season it is dusty and hot, an water holes provide constant sustenance for the animals.
